Alliance Gm Uzbekistan Will Ensure Further Development Of Uzbekistan's Auto Industry

* Uzavtosanoat JSC and GM agreed to create the GM-Uzbekistan Alliance - a new cooperation platform that meets the needs of the growing automotive industry of Uzbekistan. Uzavtosanoat and GM will jointly develop sales under the Chevrolet and Ravon brands.

Uzavtosanoat JSC and GM will carry out joint activities within the framework of a new alliance, which is being created with the aim of further developing the automobile industry of Uzbekistan. GM Uzbekistan Alliance will contribute to ensuring greater autonomy for the Uzbek automotive industry.

Within the framework of the GM Uzbekistan Alliance, Uzavtosanoat JSC and GM will continue cooperation on the production of cars and engines in Uzbekistan, as well as the action and sale of cars under the Chevrolet and Ravon brands in the domestic and export markets.

Since 2007, the joint activities of Uzavtosanoat JSC and GM have doubled the volume of car production in Uzbekistan, a lot of work has been done to expand the local supplier network, significant resources have been invested in the development of local personnel, and high-quality cars have been delivered to customers in Uzbekistan and export markets.

Uzavtosanoat JSC and GM are unanimous in their opinion that the transition to a new format of relations reflects the development of the industry and a significant increase in its potential over the past 10 years. The restructuring of relations from cooperation in the form of a joint venture to the transition to the GM Uzbekistan Alliance platform will ensure greater independence of the national automobile industry of Uzbekistan.

The parties will work on the implementation of approved projects for the development of new types of products. Within the framework of the GM Uzbekistan Alliance, the parties will also study the expansion of car exports to the CIS countries and new markets.

The alliance will also provide access to GM's automotive technology and know-how.

Within the framework of the Alliance, Uzavtosanoat JSC will take full control over the operating activities for the production of cars and, over time, engines, including the action of the Ravon brand for GM products sold in export markets. Uzavtosanoat JSC will continue to manufacture and sell Chevrolet cars domestically, which will be the foundation of joint activities, while export deliveries under the Ravon brand will expand.

“Given the strengthening of the industry, now is the right time to move to the Alliance. GM will remain in Uzbekistan and will continue to support the further development of the automobile industry of Uzbekistan, ”said the head of GM Operations Uzbekistan, Mr. Hector Villarreal.

Both companies confirmed that the transition to the Alliance will not affect the level of employment or production volumes of cars and engines. GM will continue to supply components for the production of cars and engines in Uzbekistan and will continue to support the automotive industry of Uzbekistan after the transition to the Alliance through the newly created company - GM Advisory Services, whose activities will be aimed at providing advisory and technical support.
